Funny code reviewer shirts and gifts

For the person who reads the diff so nobody else has to. Every line here is a verdict they hand out daily.

01 The lines

What they say at work.

Every piece is made to order. The images are mockups, and each one is labeled.

tee, $50
The approval on the front. The footnote on the back says what everyone suspects.
APPROVED WITH NITS. tee, $44
Ship it, but rename that variable. The most honest review there is.
CHANGES REQUESTED. tee, $44
For the reviewer who reads every line and wants everyone to know.
mug, $30
Fifteen ounces of coffee for the review queue.

02 The job

Why these lines.

A code reviewer's week is the same three words in rotation. Approve, approve with comments, request changes. The job is reading someone else's work closely enough to stand behind it, then summing that up in a status the author will read before anything else you wrote.

The jokes write themselves from there. The approval that arrived four minutes after a 2,000-line diff. The fourteen comments about naming, each one marked as a nit, followed by an approval anyway. The request for changes on a Friday afternoon. Every reviewer has given all three, and received all three, usually in the same week.

These are the statuses they type all day, printed on heavyweight cotton. LGTM keeps its confession on the back, where reviewers never look.

The words, in plain English: LGTM, Nit / approved with nits, Changes requested, Awaiting review.

03 As a gift

Buying one for them.

Buying for a reviewer and not sure of their size? Start with the mug or the sticker sheet: neither has a size, and both end up somewhere their team will see them. If they run a team Slack or Discord, the emoji pack puts the same statuses in every review thread, sent by email. For a shirt, LGTM is the safe pick. Everyone who has opened a pull request reads it without an explanation, and the back gives them something to explain.

More by budget in the gift guide for programmers, and sizes, shipping and returns on the help page.

04 Someone else

Other jobs, other lines.

Buying for a whole team? Pick one line, any mix of sizes, no minimum. Team shirts.
